Tether is a private tool for keeping up with people you already know. There is no public feed, no people-search, and no way for a stranger to find you. That shapes these guidelines: they exist to keep a small, closed network safe, not to police a public square.
These guidelines are incorporated by reference into the Terms of Service.
Tether has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior. Do not post, share, or send content that is:
caste, sexual orientation, sex, gender identity, disability, or serious disease.
someone's information.
Do not use another person's contact details to contact them in a way they have not agreed to, and do not upload information about someone else that you do not have the right to share.
You can report content or a person from the screen where you encounter them — an event, a person's profile, or a post in your feed. Reports go to a moderation queue that a human reviews.
We aim to review reports within 3 business days. When we find a violation we may remove the content, restrict features, or suspend or terminate the account. We will tell you the outcome when we can do so without compromising someone's safety or privacy.
If you believe someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
You can block anyone you are connected to. Blocking is immediate and quiet — the other person is not notified. It removes their posts from your feed and yours from theirs, cancels any pending invitations between you, and prevents future contact through Tether. You can manage blocked people in Settings → Privacy & sharing → Blocked.
If you administer a shared circle or directory, you are responsible for who you admit and for responding to complaints from your members. Tether may remove a directory whose administrator does not act on serious reports.
If you believe we made the wrong call, reply to the notice we sent you or contact [email protected]. A person will look at it again.
In the app: Settings → Help & Support.
