Delete your Tether account
Do it in the app in under a minute, or ask us by email.
In the app
- Open Tether and go to Settings.
- Scroll down to Danger zone.
- Tap Delete account and confirm.

What happens next
You have 30 days to change your mind. Your profile disappears for other people straight away, and your phone number, email, and handle are released at once. You can cancel from the banner in the app on a device that is still signed in. If you have signed out, email [email protected] within the 30 days; we can restore your account unless another account has since taken your number or email.
Some things happen at once and are not undone if you cancel. Your upcoming events are cancelled and your guests are told, your seats at other people's events are released, and your pending connection requests are withdrawn.
After 30 days, it is permanent. Your account, your contacts, and the rest of your data are permanently deleted. Encrypted backups roll off within 90 days and are never used to restore a deleted account.
A few limited records are kept. For example, tax and transaction records the law requires, and a record that the deletion happened that carries no name, email, or phone number. The full list is insection 6.2 of the Privacy Policy.
By email
Write to [email protected] from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it. We verify every request before acting on it.
Subscriptions are separate
Deleting your account does not cancel a Tether+ subscription. Apple and Google handle the billing, so cancel it with them:
- App Store: on your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Tether, and cancel.
- Google Play: open the Play Store, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions, then Tether, and cancel.
A Lifetime purchase is a one-time payment, so there is nothing to cancel.
